Connecting healthcare billing and payment plans with NetSuite

NetSuite connects Salesforce payments and healthcare billing records with finance queries and a guardian payment-plan portal.

The situation

Patient finance depended on records held in several systems.

A healthcare provider used NetSuite for patient billing, payments, and accounts receivable. Payment information also existed in Salesforce, while patient records, bills, and payment activity came from a healthcare information system.

Parents and guardians needed a self-service way to arrange installment payments. Finance and business teams needed access to the related billing records and treatment-fee information.

The challenge

Bring payment and billing context into the same receivables process.

Finance needed to associate incoming payments with the relevant patient billing records. Specialized treatment fees also needed their own fields and reporting so staff could identify the revenue correctly.

The customer-facing payment-plan task had different needs from internal finance queries. Both needed to work with the NetSuite records used to manage receivables.

The solution

Connect Salesforce and healthcare records to NetSuite financial processes.

Integrate Salesforce payments

Shinetech integrated Salesforce payment data into NetSuite to support payment tracking and patient receivables management.

Build healthcare integration interfaces

Custom NetSuite RESTlets provided interfaces for patient records, patient bills, and payment data from the healthcare information system.

Represent treatment fees

Custom Fields and Custom Records captured the business data and revenue types associated with specialized treatment fees. Reports were extended so finance could identify and review those fees.

How the work was structured

Provide everyday queries and a separate payment-plan experience.

Saved Searches were configured for the working needs of individual business teams, giving them relevant ways to query and review NetSuite information.

A NetSuite Portal gave parents and guardians a self-service interface for arranging payment plans and installment payments for patient fees. The portal addressed payment arrangements while internal staff continued to use the financial records and queries suited to their work.

The result

Billing integrations and self-service payment arrangements supported the same finance workflow.

Connected receivables

Salesforce payments and healthcare billing records became available to NetSuite financial processes.

Relevant finance views

Custom treatment-fee records, extended reports, and Saved Searches supported everyday review.

Payment flexibility

Parents and guardians could arrange payment plans and installments through a dedicated portal.
