A four-person development team turned an agricultural technology provider’s hardware prototype into a connected web platform for machinery tracking, field mapping, weather monitoring, and operational reporting.

The situation

Farm operations were generating data, but the equipment was still largely offline.

Large farms can cover widely distributed fields and rely on many machines, operators, and contractors. The client saw an opportunity to bring those moving parts into one operational view.

The goal was practical: track machinery, distinguish cultivated from uncultivated land, monitor weather conditions, and turn incoming field data into information that farm teams could use.

The solution

A three-part IoT platform connected field hardware, cloud services, and a usable operations interface.

Shinetech’s team took responsibility for both software development and hardware integration. The resulting platform brought data collection, processing, mapping, and reporting into one connected workflow.

    Hardware and GPS integration

    Connect custom devices and cultivation machinery so field activity could be captured and tracked.

    Use AWS-based services with PHP and Node.js to receive, process, and organize incoming operational data.

How we worked

The product was tested where the work actually happened: inside the machine cab.

The team used two-week iterations so the client could evaluate working software throughout development and provide feedback before the next increment.

Field visits were equally important. Engineers accompanied machine operators, observed the hardware in use, and tested the integrated experience under poor network connectivity. The first extended visit lasted four weeks, followed by additional field validation.

Daily updates, direct messaging, project tools, and weekly video calls kept decisions visible and helped the client coordinate feedback and resources.

The initial working product was delivered within three months. The deployed platform then demonstrated its ability to support distributed farms, connected machinery, and substantial data processing.
